PGH was gutted by a fire. Here's how we can help
There were no reported casualties or injuries from the fire that hit the Philippine General Hospital early morning of Sunday, May 16, but the state-run institution needs our help.
The fire started past 12 AM and was contained by the Bureau of Fire and Protection before 6am.
Senator Richard Gordon, who is chairman of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), said in a Twitter post that PRC also responded to the incident by sending two fire trucks and six ambulances.
FIRE ALERT. @philredcross is now responding to a fire at Philippine General Hospital that was raised to 3rd alarm today. I have ordered to dispatch 2 fire trucks and 4 ambulances to help put out fire & provide first aid. Our other ambulances and water tankers are also on standby. pic.twitter.com/xfySkm072D

Photos showed that the PGH chapel served as an evacuation area for pediatric patients and newborn patients when the fire hit.
A PGH official told Philstar.com that the fire started on the third floor of the hospital’s central block. There were no reported injuries or casualties.
But following the damage, PGH is now asking for help, whether in cash or in kind. Vice President Leni Robredo also took to Twitter to appeal for public assistance.
Appealing to anyone with big, industrial fans who would be willing to lend them. PGH urgently needs them to dissipate the smoke that enveloped the hospital due to the fire. Thank you.
