Tiktok, a dog rescued in Murcia, Negros Occidental after she was shot with dart arrows in February, has passed away.

BACH Project PH said on Sept. 7 that the pooch died after a tragic accident while she was in foster care.

"She slipped out, ran, and was hit by a car. It was so sudden, and even now, it feels impossible to accept," the non-profit organization wrote.

The group also explained that Tiktok was fostered to protect her from distemper that its shelter was battling.

"We are grieving deeply, and the pain is heavy. Rescue work is full of heartbreaks, and this is one of the hardest we've faced," it continued.

BACH Project PH said that Tiktok's body will be at Green Meadows Pet Aftercare in Negros from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sept. 8.

Visitors may bring gifts like a hand-drawn or digital artwork, a short poem, a letter, or a printed photo of TikTok to the venue.

Tiktok's story made the rounds in February. The Philippine Animal Welfare Society condemned the act of cruelty done to the dog and reminded that all animals—owned or stray—are protected under the Animal Welfare Act, which originally meted out a punishment of imprisonment between six months and/or two years and a fine ranging from P1,000 to P5,000.

Republic Act No. 10631 amended the law to increase the penalty depending on the maltreated animal's condition.

Sen. JV Ejercito and Murcia Mayor Gerry Rojas offered a cash reward for anyone who could help identify the people who harmed Tiktok.

BACH Project PH has shared updates about Tiktok since, including when the aspin joined the Athlerun Pawtection Run in August.
