ICYDK: You can escape the summer heat and get your reading fix at these Quezon City libraries
The summer heat has been utterly relentless, and the recent rotational blackouts aren't helping. If you need a cool, powered-up place to escape the humidity, Quezon City’s public libraries are the perfect spots to find relief.
In an announcement, the local government said that they have designated a total of 32 community libraries as cooling centers.
"Dahil fully airconditioned, makakatulong ang mga cooling center para maibsan ang init na epekto ng climate change, lalo na para sa mga vulnerable sector tulad ng senior citizen, buntis, bata at persons with disability," they stated.
On top of staying cool, you can also use this chance to catch up on reading or work on your studies.
The community libraries are open from Monday to Friday starting at 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The cooling centers are part of Quezon City’s “Cooling Map” initiative under its Comprehensive Heat Action Plan, which aims to help residents cope with the worsening effects of extreme heat and climate change.
