Rabiya Mateo, Beatrice Luigi Gomez, Annabelle McDonnell to host Miss Philippines 2023 coronation night
As the inaugural coronation night for The Miss Philippines 2023 approaches, more details are being revealed as three Filipina beauty queens are set to host the pageant night on October 24 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
In a social media post on Oct. 7, the organization announced that Rabiya Mateo, Beatrice Luigi Gomez, and Annabelle McDonnell will be co-hosting the event.
"It will be a glittering affair packed with Filipino talent and beauty," the caption read.
Mateo and Gomez competed in the 69th and 70th editions of Miss Universe, respectively. The former finished in the Top 21, while the latter placed in the Top 5. McDonnell, on the other hand, was proclaimed first runner-up in Miss Charm 2023.
21 candidates are vying for the crown to represent the Philippines in three international pageants such as Miss Supranational, Miss Charm, and Miss Asia Pacific International.
Candidates will undergo a series of changes in the usual pageant format. This includes the formal wear segment which will now be a red-carpet moment similar to the Cannes Film Festival.
Moreover, the candidates' speeches will also be done in "a TED Talks style" in which the organizer encourages candidates to emphasize how they will promote the Philippines to the world. The pageant also ditched the swimsuit competition in lieu of its mission to "reinvent" the pageantry world.
The Miss Philippines Culture and Heritage Celebration is a new pageant founded by Miss Universe Philippines national director and former titleholder Shamcey Supsup along with the MUPH creative and events director Jonas Gaffud. They described The Miss Philippines as the "most ground-breaking national competition."
Meanwhile, its affiliate male competition, Mister Pilipinas Worldwide will be hosted by model Andre Brouillette.
