A customized electric guitar signed by the Eraserheads is up for auction for the medical expenses of Parokya ni Edgar guitarist Gab Chee Kee, who's in critical condition amid lymphoma complications.

Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda on his social media accounts said Chee Kee introduced him to the music of Eraserheads in high school.

"Sila talaga ang isa sa pinakamalaking dahilan kung bakit binuo namin ang Parokya," Miranda said of the Eraserheads, comprising Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro.

Miranda recalled their humble beginnings, serving as opening act for the quartet.

"Ngayon, nagbigay na naman sila ng panibagong dahilan kung bakit sila ang ultimate idol namin."

Up for grabs is a D&D guitar designed by Chee Kee himself, with the color green as it's his favorite color according to Miranda.

Miranda said bidding will take place on Feb. 4, noontime, and ends on Feb. 14, noontime.

Starting bid, which has no limit per person, should be P50,000, and must be sent to [email protected] with the subject [Bid para kay Gab]

The email should indicate the bidder's full name and telephone number, which will then be verified via email or text.

Incomplete details and unverified bids will not be counted.

The day's highest bid will be posted at midnight on the Parokya ni Edgar Facebook page.

The winning bidder will be notified via email and text, Miranda said, and may opt to get posted on their Facebook page.

Adoro, meanwhile, also auctioned off his signed sketches of Eraserheads members in 2018.

"It is now with the framers. Standby for updates," he said.

Industry colleague Typecast had also auctioned off a signed acoustic guitar for P50,000, Miranda said. Other OPM acts also held fundraisers and benefit concerts for Chee Kee.

Lymphoma is cancer that begins in infection-fighting cells of the immune system called lymphocytes, according to WebMD. When somebody has lymphoma, their lymphocytes change and grow out of control.

Miranda announced Chee Kee's health condition last January, saying the latter has been undergoing chemotherapy for the past few months.

Chee Kee has been battling pneumonia and was recently transferred to an intensive care unit. He has also been intubated for more than a week.

Parokya ni Edgar was formed by a group of friends from Ateneo de Manila High School in 1993. Members include Miranda, Chee Kee, Buwi Meneses, Darius Semaña, Dindin Moreno, and Vinci Montaner.
