Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) continues to be the top school in the Philippines, according to a ranking from a British higher education magazine.

Based on the latest Asia University Rankings released by the Times Higher Education (THE) on April 30, (ADMU) placed in the 401-500 bracket, making it the top school in the country against 13 others that were included in the list.

Its newest placement is a significant decrease from its previous rank of 84 back in June last year. It was the only Philippine institution in the top 100.

De La Salle University (DLSU) and the University of the Philippines (UP) came in second, both in the 501-600 bracket. La Salle retained its spot from last year while UP had a ranking of 201 to 250.

Mapua University meanwhile tied with the University of Santo Tomas (UST) as the third top Philippine school with a ranking of 601+. UST was given a "reporter status" last time, meaning that the institution was active in the ranking process but "did not meet the eligibility criteria to receive a rank," according to THE.

Local schools with a reporter status in the 2024 rankings include:

  • Cebu Technological University
  • Central Luzon State University
  • Mariano Marcos State University
  • Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology
