Hearts for art with the Asian Cultural Council

Leon Gallery and the Asian Cultural Council Philippines Foundation Inc. marked Valentine’s Day with a resounding celebration of creativity as they successfully launched the Asian Cultural Council Auction 2025, drawing art patrons and cultural advocates alike.

Now in its 11th year, this annual benefit auction has become a cornerstone in advancing the creative virtuosity of Filipino artists and encouraging them to engage with global platforms. The enduring partnership between Leon Gallery and ACC Philippines has produced more than 40 grantees across diverse fields, including painting, sculpture, music, dance, theatre, art criticism, art conservation, and museology—fostering meaningful cultural dialogue across borders.

ACC Philippines chairman Ernest L. Escaler shared that both institutions “have stood side by side in a shared vision—to champion the arts as a force that transcends borders, sparks dialogue, and shapes cultural leadership.”

Meanwhile, Leon Gallery director Jaime Ponce de Leon emphasized that this year’s edition celebrates over a decade of collaboration, highlighting remarkable artistic partnerships and the collective spirit behind the auction.

A portion of the proceeds funds ACC grants for Filipino and other Asian artists, reinforcing the auction’s mission. Fittingly launched on a day of love, the event affirmed that supporting the arts remains one of the most enduring expressions of cultural goodwill and shared passion.

HSBC Philippines welcomes the Year of the Fire Horse

HSBC Philippines ushered in the Year of the Fire Horse with a grand celebration titled “Dynasty of Radiance,” gathering distinguished guests for an evening of tradition, optimism, and new beginnings. Held at the elegant Shangri-La The Fort Grand Ballroom, the event shimmered in gold and vibrant hues, creating a festive atmosphere charged with cultural pride.

The evening opened with a curated lineup of immersive experiences, including a virtual Chinese astrologer, a lively Prosperity Bar, and a creative photo booth where guests captured keepsakes of the joyous occasion.

With the sound of the ceremonial gong, the ballroom doors slowly parted to reveal a breathtaking immersive projection featuring a dynamic dragon dance interwoven with imagery honoring the Year of the Horse. The visual spectacle seamlessly blended tradition with modern technology.

A highlight of the night was the four-course Chinese menu crafted by executive Chinese chef Wang Wei Qing, showcasing refined flavors and culinary artistry. Adding to the magic, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid serenaded guests with her iconic hits and heartfelt ballads.

In his welcome remarks, CEO and head of banking Sandeep Uppal described the Fire Horse as a symbol of action, freedom, and breakthrough—an auspicious sign in the rare 60-year cycle. With over a century and a half in the country, HSBC Philippines reaffirmed its commitment to growth, innovation, and becoming the most trusted international bank in the Philippines.
