Alice Guo served new arrest warrant over anti-graft cases
Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo has been served with a new arrest warrant over three anti-graft charges.
Guo, who is currently detained at the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City, was among the 11 people named in the arrest warrant issued by the Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 67 on Aug. 7. The Warrant and Subpoena Section of the Jose Abad Santos Police Station executed the court order on Aug, 14.
The warrant stated that Guo violated Republic Act No. 3019, the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
The court has set a P90,000 bail for each count.
Meanwhile, the Pasig court also penalized Guo's co-accused Rachelle Malonzo Carreon, Jaimielyn Cruz, and Walter Wong Rong, Wang Weili, Wuli Dong, Nong Ding Chang, Lang Xu Po to life imprisonment, alongside a fine of P2 million each per case in addition to the monetary reparations to the victim-complainants in connection with their trafficking charge.
The court also ruled that the P6-billion Baofu compound be forfeited in favor of the government, while permanently revoking the registrations of Baofu Land Development Inc., Hongsheng Gaming Technology Inc., and Zun Yuan Technology Inc.
The same court has previously denied Guo's bail plea for her human trafficking case. The Bureau of Internal Revenue has also filed a tax evasion case amounting to over P1 billion against her over alleged non-payment of correct taxes.
Guo had been serving as mayor of the Tarlac municipality until she was dismissed by the Office of the Ombudsman from the position due to "grave misconduct" in connection with the alleged illegal activities of POGO hubs in her town.
