As mobility evolves, so does Iloilo Bike Festival

For years, the Iloilo Bike Festival has reflected the city's rise as the Philippines' biking capital, celebrating a culture built on people-friendly bike lanes, wide streets, and a growing appreciation of active transportation.

Iloilo Business Park, a 72-hectare township in Iloilo developed by property giant Megaworld, has hosted the festival for more than a decade, serving as a gathering point for cyclists, commuters, and mobility advocates in the City of Love.

Among this year's highlights, the Iloilo Duathlon 2.0 welcomes athletes and fitness enthusiasts from Iloilo, Bacolod, and beyond for a high-octane running and biking competition.

Over time, the township has witnessed cycling evolve from a recreational activity into an increasingly practical means of transportation for people to move around the city. The festival’s latest edition broadened its focus, introducing more mobility options alongside traditional cycling activities.

Wide roads, walkable streets, and mobility-friendly corridors connect directly to Iloilo City's vast bike lane network, allowing cyclists to travel seamlessly between residential communities, corporate offices, retail destinations, hotels, and cultural attractions.

Hundreds of riders ranging from 14 to 60 years old race down Megaworld Boulevard during the closed-circuit Mega Criterium Race.

More importantly, Iloilo Business Park functions as an extension of the city's cycling ecosystem rather than a separate destination.

Cyclists who are working in the township, for example, can easily access office developments, and the same goes for residents and visitors of Festive Walk Mall, the Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art (ILOMOCA), the Emperador Museum, and hotels such as Richmonde Hotel Iloilo, Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo, and the newly-opened Belmont Hotel Iloilo.

From pushbikes to mountain bikes, participants of all ages take over the 72-hectare township as cycling events roll on throughout the month.

Bike parking and repair stations across the township further support this connectivity, making cycling a practical and convenient way to navigate one of Iloilo City's most dynamic urban districts.
