Moonwalk National High School in Parañaque assured the public that they are “fully cooperating” with police investigation after a 14-year-old student stabbed his classmate to death.

In an official statement released on Facebook, the school assured that they are committed to ensuring that justice will be served following the stabbing incident involving their two students, which resulted in the victim’s death on Wednesday, March 26.

“The school is fully cooperating with the law enforcement authorities in their investigation, and we are committed to ensuring that justice is served,” it read.

It also assured the community that the case was an “isolated incident,” and that there is no ongoing threat to the safety of their students.

"The school is committed to providing a safe learning environment, and we are taking immediate steps to address this situation by tightening bag inspections to our learners and other safety and security measures," it added.

The school also mourned the death of their student.

“We extend our sincerest condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and relatives of the victim. MwNHS exerts its effort to give necessary assistance and support to the grieving family,” it said.

According to authorities, the students involved had long been in a rift. Before the incident, the victim reported to her teacher that the suspect brought a knife to school.

“Lumapit po sa kaniya yung biktima, kasi sinasabi ng biktima 'yung classmate nila may dalang kutsilyo tapos pinagbabantaan siya na sasaksakin,” Police Lieutenant Colonel Llamas Angustia told 24 Oras

Augustia said the teacher, alongside the victim, went to the classroom to assess the situation, but the suspect immediately grabbed his knife from his bag and stabbed his classmate.

The victim was able to run for help despite the injuries but was chased after and stabbed again by the suspect. She sustained four stab wounds, with most of them in the chest area.

The victim was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

According to the report, the victim had already informed her mom on Tuesday, March 25 that she was being bullied by her classmate and threatened to stab her.

“Ang sabi niya po sa akin, ‘Mama, sasaksakin ako ng bakla. Binubully-bully po ako, Mama. Marami po kaming magkaka classmate. Mama, papatayin niya ba ako?’” the victim’s mother told the outlet.

Police said the suspect claimed that he was the one being bullied by the victim.

“Binubully daw sa school. Kasama daw po yung biktima na nambubully sa kaniya, Kaya niya nagawa yung ganoong krimen,” Angustia said.

The suspect is now in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
