Beyond luxury: How Hann Resorts is creating integrated experiences in Clark, Pampanga and New Clark City, Tarlac

Luxury today is no longer defined by five-star accommodations alone.
Increasingly, travelers are looking beyond individual hotels or attractions in favor of destinations where hospitality, dining, recreation, wellness, entertainment, and nature come together to create a complete experience. The appeal is no longer simply where to stay, but where every moment—from arrival to departure—offers something worth discovering.
That shift is becoming increasingly evident in Clark, Pampanga, and New Clark City, Tarlac, where visitors can move seamlessly between two distinct yet complementary environments. A short drive away, the vibrant energy of Clark gives way to the expansive landscapes of New Clark City, allowing guests to experience two distinct sides of Central Luzon in a single journey.
During an exclusive tour, PhilSTAR Property experienced firsthand how those contrasting experiences complement one another. As Central Luzon’s first fully integrated resort, Hann Resorts delivers a seamless blend of hospitality, gaming, and leisure. Across its premier destinations—Hann Casino Resort and Hann Reserve—it creates an interconnected tourism ecosystem that inspires guests to stay longer, explore more, and return.
To better understand what it takes to build world-class destinations, PhilSTAR Property spoke with three executives helping shape Hann Resorts’ integrated vision: Rod Hackman, Vice President for Gaming Operations at Hann Casino Resort; Antonello Manca, Complex Executive Assistant Manager for Food & Beverage at Swissôtel Clark and Widus Hotel & Casino; and Tim Neil, General Manager of Hann Reserve.
Drawing from decades of international experience, the three leaders shared a common belief: the future of luxury tourism is no longer about individual attractions, but about creating destinations where every experience feels connected.
The evolution of destinations
For Hackman, Clark's transformation reflects how tourism itself has evolved.
"Clark has certainly evolved and grown over the last 30 years. There are now many more entertainment options throughout Pampanga and Northern Luzon," he said.
He believes Hann has helped shape that evolution by creating a destination where visitors can enjoy multiple experiences within a single estate.

Today, Hann Casino Resort spans 11 hectares in Clark, Pampanga, bringing together three hotels—Clark Marriott, Swissôtel Clark, and Widus Hotel—to offer more than 830 luxury rooms. Alongside over 20 dining venues, the 8th Avenue Lifestyle Mall, and wellness facilities, the resort boasts one of the country's largest gaming floors. This includes a new 1.22-hectare expansion equipped with 584 slot machines, 34 table games, and three new dining outlets, including The Canyon Café and Three Woks.
We're a truly integrated resort—not just a gaming destination, but also offering hotels, food and beverage, retail, and now Hann Reserve golf," Hackman said. "Whether you're from Pampanga, elsewhere in Luzon, or visiting internationally, there's something here for everyone."
That diversity of experiences reflects changing guest expectations.
"Today's gaming guests want service much more than just a casino," Hackman explained. "They look at the quality of the hotels, the food and beverage experiences, and the overall amenities available."
Integrated resorts, he added, succeed because they create experiences for every member of the traveling party.
"Even if one family member is gaming, everyone else has something enjoyable to do. Wives, children, parents—everyone can enjoy the resort together. It's truly a destination for families, not just gamers."
Hospitality is about people
While luxury often begins with impressive architecture and facilities, Manca believes guests remember something much simpler.
"As hoteliers, we don't simply see guests as customers—we welcome them into what we consider our home," he said. "Hospitality has always been about making people feel welcome."
“At Swissôtel, we bring world-class dining to life by curating an authentic, 5-star hospitality experience where scenic views and a relaxing ambiance meet exceptional culinary artistry. In close collaboration with our dedicated team of international chefs and attentive front-of-house teams, we continually elevate our dining concepts, transforming top-tier, delicious ingredients into unforgettable masterpieces. We cater to highly discerning, well-traveled guests by embracing a philosophy of premium food quality, highlighting meticulous sourcing, precise meat cuts, and unique preparation methods. Ultimately, we fuse 5-star service with unmatched sensory environments, pushing our teams to continually surpass global standards and exceed international expectations.”
Authenticity, however, remains his guiding principle.
"It comes down to authenticity. We must stay true to who we are, what we promise, and what we're capable of delivering," he said. "Authenticity and consistency are everything."

Building with nature
While Hann Casino Resort offers the energy of an integrated urban resort, Hann Reserve presents a different but complementary vision of luxury.
“Hann Reserve is essentially an eco-sanctuary resort,” Neil explained. “Golf is really the heartbeat of the development, anchored by our three championship golf courses, our PGA Academy, our partnership with the PGA of America, and our ambition to host major international tournaments.”
While golf may be the defining attraction, Neil believes the development's greatest strength lies in the diversity of experiences it brings together.
“Hann Reserve is much more than golf,” he said. “Our master plan includes residential communities, luxury hotels, pool villas, international schools, wellness facilities, and commercial components. Education is an important part of our vision, as is real estate and wellness.”
The goal, he added, is to create a destination that can serve different lifestyles and interests.
“Ultimately, we’re creating a destination with something for everybody. Whether you’re looking for luxury living, education, golf, wellness, or hospitality, Hann Reserve is designed to offer an experience that caters to different lifestyles and interests.”
Equally important is how Hann Reserve is being developed.
"From the very beginning, one of the priorities was ensuring that construction respected the site's natural landscape and topography as much as possible," Neil said.
Leading those efforts is Director of Agronomy Shaun Satterly, whose work focuses on delivering championship-quality golf conditions while minimizing environmental impact. From precision irrigation systems tailored to the site's microclimates to rainwater harvesting, recycled water systems, climate-resilient turf selection, and careful water management, sustainability has been integrated into the development's long-term operations.
"We focus heavily on water conservation, carefully selecting grass varieties, reducing dependence on chemicals and fertilizers, and protecting the surrounding natural environment wherever possible," Neil explained.
Even the golf courses themselves were designed to respond to the realities of the Philippine climate.
"Golf courses in tropical climates must be designed differently because of the intensity of rainfall," Neil said. "Our drainage infrastructure captures and recycles water extremely efficiently."
For Hann, environmental responsibility is not treated as a separate initiative but as a fundamental part of creating an eco-luxury destination where championship golf and nature coexist.
Raising the standard of golf tourism
For Neil, Hann Reserve represents an opportunity to position the Philippines as a world-class destination for championship golf and integrated lifestyle experiences.
"It's about raising the standard of golf in the Philippines and helping elevate the country's reputation as a world-class golf destination," he said.
The 450-hectare development will feature three championship golf courses, each offering a distinct experience.
"Dragon's Landing offers a mountaintop links-style experience with breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views," Neil said. "Six Moons will offer a parkland-style course, while Caverns Deep by Sir Nick Faldo integrates natural waterfalls, streams, and the surrounding landscape."
Neil added that Hann Reserve's partnership with the PGA of America will help develop future generations of Filipino golfers through the PGA Academy and the country's first PGA Junior Championship Philippines.
Clark and New Clark City's next chapter
The three executives believe the continued growth of Clark and New Clark City is creating opportunities that extend well beyond traditional tourism.
For Hackman, improved connectivity has been a key driver.
"The upgrading of Clark International Airport has made Clark a major gateway in Luzon," he said. "We're only fifteen minutes from the airport, making it very convenient for casino guests, golfers, families looking for a staycation, and leisure travelers."
Manca has likewise seen Clark emerge as a destination with a vibrant food culture.
"One of the first things I discovered is how passionate people here are about food," he said. "People genuinely enjoy exploring different cuisines."
Neil believes Hann Reserve will further strengthen the region's appeal.
"Our goal is to establish Hann Reserve as a flagship golf destination—not only for the Philippines, but for the entire region."
As Clark and New Clark City continue to evolve, Hann Resorts is bringing together complementary experiences: Hann Casino Resort offers vibrant hospitality, dining, entertainment, and shopping in Clark, while Hann Reserve offers golf, nature, and wellness in New Clark City, which is just a short drive away.
