HIGHLIGHTS: Coronation of King Charles III

Published May 06, 2023 5:51 pm Updated May 06, 2023 10:49 pm

The formal crowning of King Charles III alongside his wife, Queen Camilla, has taken place on Saturday, May 6.

At 7:02 p.m. (Philippine time), Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby bestowed St. Edward's Crown on the monarch's head.

This took place after he took the coronation oath and was anointed by the Archbishop at Westminster Abbey.

Camilla was likewise officiated as Queen (dropping the "Consort" title) as she wore a modified version of Queen Mary's crown.

The coronation marks Britain's first in 70 years since the late Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in 1953. Aside from this next most recent crowning of Charles III's mother, it has also been nearly 90 years since the 1937 coronation of the last king, George VI.

Here are highlights from the coronation day leading up to King Charles III's crowning.
