HIGHLIGHTS: Coronation of King Charles III
The formal crowning of King Charles III alongside his wife, Queen Camilla, has taken place on Saturday, May 6.
At 7:02 p.m. (Philippine time), Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby bestowed St. Edward's Crown on the monarch's head.
This took place after he took the coronation oath and was anointed by the Archbishop at Westminster Abbey.
Camilla was likewise officiated as Queen (dropping the "Consort" title) as she wore a modified version of Queen Mary's crown.
The coronation marks Britain's first in 70 years since the late Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in 1953. Aside from this next most recent crowning of Charles III's mother, it has also been nearly 90 years since the 1937 coronation of the last king, George VI.

Fans gather to see the royal family
Crowds gathered near Buckingham Palace for the "King's Procession" following the King and Queen's formal coronation ceremony.
Thousands of service personnel are also taking part at the procession, marching behind Charles and Camilla's Gold State Coach, a 200-year old carriage once used by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
King Charles, Queen Camilla ride off to Buckingham
The newly crowned king and queen return to Buckingham Palace via the Gold Stage Coach. They are joined by Royal Family members along with thousands of British and Commonwealth troops in a larger mobile ceremony called the Coronation Procession.
Camilla assumes the role of 'Queen'
Previously known as Queen Consort under the blessing of the late Queen Elizabeth II, Camilla is now recognized as Queen with the "Consort" title dropped formally today. She is crowned separately in a similar and simpler process as King Charles III.

Prince William, heir apparent to the throne, leads The Homage. The archbishop, royal princes, and senior members of the upper chamber of parliament, the House of Lords likewise swear their allegiance to the new monarch.

The new monarch receives the official orb and scepter as part of The Investiture, immediately preceding his crowning and ascension.
