Here's some good news for commuters: Apart from the MRT-3, the LRT-2 is also offering free rides every Wednesday this August.

The train line announced on Aug. 1 the Libreng Sakay program, which is part of the anniversary celebration of the signing of the PhilSys Act.

On Aug. 5, 12, 19, and 26, National ID holders can avail of free rides in the morning from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and later in the day from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

To avail of the promo, simply show your physical National ID card, a printed copy, or a digital copy to security personnel at the station.

Don't have a National ID yet? You can register to get one at Philippine Statistics Authority centers at these locations.

You'll need to present any of the following documents:

  • PSA-issued birth certificate and one government ID bearing a full name, photograph, and signature or thumb mark
  • Philippine passport or ePassport
  • Unified Multi-purpose Identification Card
  • Student's license permit or driver's license

If you don't have any of these documents, you may bring secondary documents like your National Statistics Office-issued birth certificate, SSS ID, NBI clearance, police clearance, PWD ID, senior citizen ID, PhilHealth ID, and TIN.

Additionally, you can do it all online via the eGovPH app.

The MRT-3 is also offering a similar promo. Learn more about it here.
