A chef from Nigeria made an attempt at a world record through non-stop cooking for over four days, putting together 55 recipes and more than a hundred meals in 100 hours.

According to Guinness World Records, Hilda Bassey is looking to steal the throne from Lata Tondon of India, who currently holds the world record with a time of 87 hours and 45 minutes.

Surviving on only a few hours of sleep during her cooking marathon, the chef known as Hilda Baci on social media began her feat on Thursday, May 11 and continued until Monday, May 15, putting the spotlight on various Nigerian dishes.

In an interview with CNN International, Baci referred to Nigerian cuisine as “the best out there.”

“The more recipes are propagated, the more people will be willing to try it. Nigerian food is such comfort food,” she said.

The GWR is now looking into Baci's attempt to verify her cooking spree.

“We are aware of the record attempt and are looking forward to receiving the evidence for our Records Management Team to review, before we can confirm the record is official,” a GWR spokesperson said.
