LTO debunks social media posts claiming 100% hike on vehicle registration fees
The Land Transportation Office has denied circulating online claims about a supposed increase in its vehicle registration fees.
In a statement, the agency debunked a viral Facebook post alleging that registration fees had increased by 100% without prior notice, even as fuel prices continue to rise. The LTO clarified that the claim is false and misleading.
“Hindi po totoo ang ganitong pahayag. Patuloy po ang LTO na nagsisikap na gawing mas abot-kaya ang mga serbisyo nito lalo na sa kasalukuyang krisis pang-ekonomiya na kinakaharap ng ating bansa,” the agency said.
The LTO emphasized that its current registration fees remain in compliance with existing laws and regulations and that no unannounced increases have been implemented.
It also urged the public to rely only on official LTO platforms and authorized offices for accurate information, reminding citizens to verify facts before sharing them online.
According to LTO's portal, registration fees start at P240 for motor vehicles and P1,600 for light cars, depending on the vehicle's weight.
