PNP to strengthen its quick response team through 911 hotline

Philippine National Police Chief Police General Nicolas Torre III said that they will improve their quick response by rolling out a 911 hotline for crime reports.

During the press briefing on Wednesday, June 4, Torre said that they will first launch the quick response team in Metro Manila with a five-minute expected police response, before expanding to other parts of the country.

"This is in compliance [with] the directive of the president to make the police more visible in the streets and more active in its mandate of preventing and solving crimes," the police chief said.

He added that he had already implemented this response policy during his tenure as the director of Quezon City Police District.

Torre added that they are planning to close police boxes and police community precincts to focus on the complaints through the 911 hotline.

He added that police will patrol the streets or remain in their mobile units, ready to respond to radio reports.

Dial 911, darating sila, darating kami sa loob ng limang minuto,” he said.

They initially aimed for a five-minute police response time in NCR, with plans to reduce it to three minutes after three months of implementation.

This is one of Torre's promises as the new police chief after assuming office on June 2. Prior to his appointment, he served as the QCPD director and CIDG chief.
