Tokyo Olympics: Carlo Paalam goes home with a silver medal
Philippines' Carlo Paalam ends his Tokyo Olympics journey on a high note, claiming the silver medal in the men's flyweight fight.
On Saturday, Aug. 7, Paalam and Great Britain's Galal Yafai faced each other for the gold, but Yafai won via split decision.
Despite the disappointment for 23-year-old, the Philippines have showed success at the Games with 1 gold, 2 silvers, and 1 bronze—the Philippines' best ever.
Paalam is the Philippines’ third medal in boxing after Eumir Marcial's bronze in men's middleweight and Nesthy Petecio’s silver in women’s featherweight. It is also the fouth overall for the Philippines after Hidilyn Diaz’s historic gold medal in women’s weightlifting.
Congratulations, Carlo!
