Karl Eldrew Yulo claims Asian Games bronze in horizontal bar

Another Yulo takes home a medal for the Philippines!

Eldrew Yulo, younger brother of Olympic champion Carlos Yulo, secured a bronze medal in the men’s horizontal bar final at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya in Japan.

Eldrew, performing second in the rotation, earned a total score of 13.666 on a 5.0 difficulty routine. Though tied on total points with Kazakhstan’s Milad Karimi, who competed with a higher 5.8 difficulty, Eldrew claimed bronze thanks to a superior execution score of 8.566 over Karimi’s 7.766 following a fall.

China’s Tian Hao won gold with 14.700 points on a 5.9 difficulty, while Japan’s Shinnosuke Oka took silver with 14.033 points on a 5.4 difficulty.

Earlier that day, Eldrew's older brother, Carlos, took home his second gold after scoring 14.466 from a 5.2 difficulty and a 9.266 execution score during the men's vault final.

Just this year, the 18-year-old Eldrew took home the gold in floor exercise at the Antalya World Cup. He also advanced to the finals at the Cairo World Cup for both the floor exercise and horizontal bar,[26] winning bronze in both events. At the 2026 Senior Asian Championships in Zunyi, the younger Yulo earned another bronze medal in the floor exercise.
