‘Human Barbie’ influencer Bárbara Jankavski dies at 31
Brazilian influencer Bárbara Jankavski, known to her followers as “Boneca Desumana”—colloquially, “Barbie doll”—passed away on Nov. 2 at 31 years old.
The testimony of public defender Renato Campos Pinto de Vitto, 51, as written in a police report obtained by CNN Brasil, provides some clues on the circumstances surrounding the popular influencer’s death.
According to de Vitto, he had hired Jankavski for “sexual services” the night she died. They were together inside a Sao Paulo residence and had allegedly taken illicit substances.
When he noticed Jankavski wasn’t moving after she fell asleep, de Vitto called the Mobile Emergency Care Service. While the emergency responders were on their way to the residence, they instructed de Vitto over the phone to begin resuscitation. He did it for nine minutes until doctors arrived. They confirmed Jankavski’s death.
The police report said Jankavski, identified by her legal name Bárbara Jankavski Marquez, had an injury on her left eye, with her back dotted with marks. She was only wearing underwear when police arrived at the scene.
Although a friend told police Jankavski’s facial injury was due to a falling accident, the Sao Paulo Public Security Secretariat registered the influencer’s death as suspicious. The Secretariat requested autopsy and toxicology tests amid the investigation.
Jankavski built a strong following on social media—over 56,200 followers on Instagram and 344,000 on TikTok—with content sharing her cosmetic procedures. The latest one was a facelift in June.
“My God, how sad—I really liked her content. Rest in peace,” wrote one of her followers on Instagram.
“Wow, when I saw it was her, I couldn’t believe it. Rest in peace, my love,” wrote another.
“So young — may God receive her with open arms and give comfort to her family and friends!” said another follower.
