'Record-low' 46% of Filipinos are 'very happy' with love life—SWS
A survey found that only 46% of Filipinos are “very happy” with their love life, the lowest number in 20 years.
On Feb. 11, the Social Weather Station (SWS) released the results of a survey where they asked 2,160 Filipinos aged 18 and above nationwide about their love lives.
The said rate was down 12 points from the 58% of Filipinos who said they were "very happy" with their romantic relationships in December 2023. The recent number was also the lowest in 20 years since 2004.
The survey also revealed that 36% of Filipinos said they could be happier with their romantic relationships, while 18% said they have no love life.
The poll added that compared to 2023 figures, happiness with love lives fell among both men and women across civil status, especially among men with live-in partners.
When it comes to love languages, 67% of Filipinos express their love through acts of service, like running errands, helping with chores, cooking a meal for their loved ones, and fixing things around the house, “even without being asked.”
It surpassed words of affirmation and quality time, with 51% each, giving gifts with 33%, and physical touch with 29%.
This Valentine’s season, both men and women have “Love and companionship” on top of their wishlist, followed by money—which was the “most cited gift” in 2023—any gift from the heart, flowers, apparel, and a good family relationship.
The non-commissioned survey was conducted from Dec. 12 to 18, 2024, using face-to-face interviews of 2,160 adults, aged 18 years old and above nationwide with sampling error margins at ±2%.
