Taiwan arrival card for visitors to go fully online on Oct. 1

Going to Taiwan soon? You will need to fill out your arrival card online in advance, starting on Oct. 1.

Taiwan's National Immigration Agency (NIA) announced that travelers to the country will be required to complete their Taiwan Arrival Card online before arriving, as they will be phasing out paper landing cards on Oct. 1 for faster immigration clearance.

Visitors must complete the form on this link within three days before their arrival. QR codes will also be available at check-in counters in airports and seaports.

When filling out the form, travelers may choose either Chinese or English, with guidance available in five other languages: Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian. You will need to enter your personal information, including a photo of the passport data page.

For families or group travelers, one person is allowed to fill out forms on behalf of up to 16 individuals. This can be reviewed and edited by other travelers at any time.

After submission, a confirmation email is automatically sent to the traveler's registered email address. You do not need to present the confirmation email, as an immigration officer can check the TWAC data by scanning the passport.

Note that the TWAC is free of charge.

NIA said TWAC is mandatory before immigration clearance. The arrival card applies to foreign nationals entering Taiwan with a visitor visa or under the visa-exemption program, Hong Kong and Macao residents holding a multiple-entry permit, mainland Chinese residents holding a multiple-entry tourist permit, and nationals without household registration who do not hold a Resident Certificate.

Taiwan is visa-free for Filipino passport holders until 2026.
