PAGASA says 1-2 more cyclones may enter PAR this December
Up to two more cyclones may enter the Philippines this month.
In a weather forecast, PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said December is expected to be an active month for tropical cyclone formation.
“Lalo na ngayong buwan ng Disyembre, may 1 o 2 bagyo ang inaasahan nating maaaring mabuo o pumasok sa PAR,” he said.
Badrina also reported that Tropical Storm Verbena, now internationally known as Koto, will no longer affect the country as it remains far from the Philippine landmass.
As of 3 a.m. of Dec. 2, Koto is at almost stationary movement at 470 km northwest of Pag-asa Island in Palawan with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of 55 kilometers per hour.
As of 5 a.m., PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said that they are still monitoring a low-pressure area outside the country, located at 1280 km east of Eastern Visayas.
She said its track is still uncertain, but it will cause rainshowers as early as Friday until the weekend, especially in the Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, and Mindanao.
"Pag nag-landfall po siya, tatawid po ulit ito ng kabisayaan. So inaasahan po natin yung mga natamaan ng mga past na bagyo natin ay makakaranas uli ng pag-ulan," Dominguez said.
Dominguez advised everyone to stay updated on PAGASA's weather reports.
