PH women batters now second in Group Stage at Women's Baseball World Cup 2026

The Philippine women's baseball team gained the second spot in the Group Stage at the ongoing WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup Group Tainan 2026 in Taiwan. 

Currently sharing the spot with Venezuela, the Filipina batters made history with their first-ever wins in their debut appearance at the World Cup.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26, the Filipina batters etched their historic first-ever win in the World Cup. They overpowered Cuba 6–0. This was after they had to nurse a 3–0 loss to the Cup's defending champion Japan on the first day of the tournament. 

Martine Francisco was named Player of the Day following her stellar performance in their match against Cuba, lodging a two-run double in the first inning. 

Hours after their win, the Filipina batters were at it again, dominating Great Britain with a 6–2 victory. 

The Philippine women's national baseball team dominates Great Britain in their second historic win at the Women's Baseball World Cup Group Tainan 2026. 

The wins earned for the Philippine women's baseball team their current standing in the Group Stage. 

Topping the scoreboard is Japan with a 3–0 standing. Following the Philippines and Venezuela, which both stand at 2–1, are Chinese Taipei at 1–1, Cuba at 0–2, and Great Britain at 0–3. 

The Filipina batters next go against host team Chinese Taipei and Venezuela on Thursday, Aug. 27.
