‘Cheers’ star Kirstie Alley passes away at 71
Kirstie Alley, the star of Cheers and Drop Dead Gorgeous, has passed away after a short battle with cancer. She was 71.
Alley’s children, True and Lillie Parker, announced the actress’ death in a social media post on Tuesday, Dec. 6 (Philippine time).
"We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce, and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered," they began in a statement.

"She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead,” they continued, expressing their gratitude to the doctors and nurses who took care of her during her battle.
The siblings described their mother’s zest and passion for life and everyone around her as “unparalleled,” adding that it left them “inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did.”
“We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time,” they said.
Alley became famous for her role as Rebecca Howe on the sitcom Cheers, which ran between 1987 and 1993. She won an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for her performance on the NBC show in 1991. She also starred in other much-loved shows and films like Look Who’s Talking (1989), Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999), and Fat Actress (2005).
