Bea Alonzo drops cyber libel case against Cristy Fermin, co-accused
Bea Alonzo has withdrawn the cyber libel case against Cristy Fermin and her co-hosts after accepting their public apology.
In her vlog last Feb. 11, Fermin and her co-hosts Rommel Villamor and Wendell Alvarez issued their apology to Alonzo, saying it was never their "intention to defame, offend, or harm" the actress.
“We deeply regret the unintended and unfortunate consequences of our actions, including the public persecution that Ms. Alonzo has endured,” their statement read.
“It was never our intention to defame, offend, or harm Ms. Alonzo in any way. We realize now that our words might have fallen short of the respect and fairness that everyone deserves, especially someone who has dedicated her life to her craft and her audience.”
The hosts also agreed to “cease and desist from any further commentary or content” that would put Alonzo in a negative light. They also thanked the actress for her willingness to work toward “resolution and healing.”
“To Ms. Alonzo, we extend our gratitude. We are hopeful that we can both move on from this chapter with a renewed understanding and mutual respect,” they said. “Thank you to everyone for your understanding, and for giving us the chance to rectify our unintended shortcomings.”
Alonzo's legal counsel, Atty. Joey Garcia of Garcia Elauria Ruanto & Associates law office said that the actress has accepted the public apology of Fermin and her co-hosts.
“After two years of legal proceedings & with the case pending before the Regional Trial Court, this matter has run its course under the law. The process has not been easy for any party involved. It has required accountability, reflection & fortitude," said Garcia in an official statement, per ABS-CBN News.
"This decision is neither an act of retreat nor concession. Rather, it is an act of resolve, anchored in forgiveness," he continued, adding that Alonzo would focus on her work and advocacies.
Alonzo filed a cyber libel case against Fermin, Ogie Diaz, and their co-hosts in May 2024 for allegedly spreading false and harmful information about her on their online shows, based on claims from someone pretending to be close to her.
In July 2025, the Quezon City Regional Trial Court issued arrest warrants for Fermin, Villamor, and Alvarez. They later posted P48,000 bail each the following month. `
