It's the end of an era!

Twitter is officially bidding goodbye as the app's website domain has rebranded to, the owner Elon Musk announced on May 17, 2024.

Musk posted on X a photo of a logo similar to a former online banking firm, which itself transitioned to now called Paypal after his ouster in 2000.

“All core systems are now on,” the Tesla owner quipped.

The social platform's app remained even though it underwent a name and logo change in 2023.

Users can still access the social website using the old URL but they'll be redirected to a site named

The SpaceX founder acquired Twitter in April 2022 and has made changes. Musk has been repeatedly using the letter logo to brand his companies such as setting up a new parent company called X Corp to establish the transaction of the app.

Despite its longstanding reputation, Musk aspires to make the California-based app a super-app along the lines of China's WeChat.

In August 2023, the newly branded app embraced a new tagline: "Blaze your glory!"

Musk's acquisition of Twitter has brought significant controversies on the social media website. According to Sensor Tower data, X's active users doubled dropped by 15% to 174 as of February this year in spite of the company's opposite claim.

Moreover, global advertisement giants such as Apple, Disney, Coca-Cola, and others have reduced their ad spending on the newly bought website due to concerns about its rebranding of content moderation and creation.
