Fire hits newly renovated Manila Metropolitan Theater

A fire broke out at the Metropolitan Theater in Ermita, Manila on Friday morning, June 17, and was put out hours after.

The Manila Disaster Risk Reducation Management Office declared the situation under control at 9:23, with fire put out at 9:42 am.  

In a statement released by the Metropolitan Theater, it said that the fire started on the first floor of Padre Burgos Wing, which was currently under construction. 

No one was reportedly hurt in the incident and no other properties belonging were damaged by the fire, with the exemption of old and decaying equipment that were removed from different parts of the building. 

The iconic Manila Metropolitan Theater reopened its doors to the public in December 2021 after years of renovation and rehabilitation.
