Dog rescued after being trapped in drainage canal in QC
A dog was brought to safety after getting trapped in a drainage canal in Quezon City.
According to the Quezon City Veterinary Department, the dog that was stuck in a drainage canal along Quezon Avenue corner G. Araneta Avenue was successfully rescued on Oct. 19.
The matter was first brought to light by a concerned citizen who managed to take a picture of the dog sticking its head out from the sewer in an attempt to escape.
The Animal Kingdom Foundation later shared an appeal for help on social media, calling on government agencies and other groups to assist in rescuing the animal.
While search and rescue efforts were subsequently conducted, the initial attempts were unsuccessful as the dog could not be located at the time.
Authorities eventually managed to locate and rescue it thanks to the combined efforts of the QC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the Barangay Public Safety Officer of Sto. Domingo, District 4, the Association of Volunteer Fire Chiefs and Fire Fighters of the Philippines, Inc., and the QC Veterinary Response Team.
