LIST: Emergency numbers you can call for medical assistance
When an emergency happens, every second counts.
One social media user's medical emergency recently made the rounds online. In his Facebook post, He recounted trying to dial 911 to seek help for his father, who was suffering from a heart attack. However, he claimed that his call remained unanswered for 10 minutes.
He later made a follow-up post, detailing that the ambulance that responded to their call was from their barangay and was not dispatched by 911.
The user added that the ambulance associated with the 911 response arrived at 12:38 p.m., about 20 minutes after his emergency call ended.
"By that time, nasa hospital na kami. Kaya hindi po namin personally makumpirma kung nakarating ba sa bahay namin ang ambulance na associated sa 911 response or kung ano ang nangyari sa response na iyon," he explained.
Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla has since gotten wind of the complaint and assured that an investigation is underway, according to a GMA News report.
The situation highlights the importance of knowing where to turn when you need emergency assistance. While 911 remains the country’s primary emergency hotline, Filipinos can also contact government agencies directly for specific emergencies and urgent concerns.
