Tennis sensation Alex Eala is moving deeper into the Miami Open in a highly anticipated Round of 32 clash against Poland's Magda Linette.

Eala, currently at a career-high world No. 29, will face Linette again for the fourth time on Sunday morning at around 3:50 a.m. (Philippine time).

Eala enters the match full of confidence after a gritty comeback in the Round of 64. Despite losing a close first-set tiebreak to Germany’s Laura Siegemund, she fought back to win 6-7(6), 6-3, 6-3.

Meanwhile, Linette, a world No. 50 with three WTA titles to her name, secured a comeback victory over world No. 1 Iga Swiatek (1-6, 7-5, 6-3) on Friday.

Speaking about Eala after her match, she said, "I played her at the beginning of the year, so I know what I'm up against and I will just try to do my best again and I know it's going to be a tough match."

"I have so much respect for her game so I'm ready. I'm playing well and I'm healthy so anything can happen," she continued.

The two first met in the Round of 32 at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Open, where Linette took a tight first-set tiebreak to win 7-6(4), 6-1.

She again won in June 2025, securing a 6-4, 6-3 victory during another Round of 32 clash at the Nottingham Open. However, Eala finally turned the tide this January at the ASB Classic in Auckland with a 6-3, 6-2 win.
