Marcos declares March 20 a regular holiday for Eid'l Fitr
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared March 20 a regular holiday in the country in observance of Eid'l Fitr.
The holiday was announced by Marcos on Thursday, March 12, during the Grand Iftar held at Malacañang.
The Palace stated that the declaration highlights the government’s deep respect for the traditions and contributions of the Muslim Filipino community.
"The declaration recognizes the significance of Eid’l Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a period devoted to prayer, reflection, and fasting," said Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro.
Coastro continued that the Palace "extends its greetings to the Muslim community in the Philippines and around the world as they prepare to celebrate Eid’l Fitr with their families and communities."
Eid’l Fitr, or the Festival of Breaking the Fast, is a major Islamic celebration marking the conclusion of Ramadan, a month dedicated to prayer, reflection, and fasting.
