Toddler dies after mother runs over her with car

A 13-month-old baby passed away after she was run over by her mother in her vehicle. 

According to a report by NBC News, the police responded to a 911 call from the parent reporting what happened near their Arizona home last week. The unfortunate incident took place while she was repositioning her car on the driveway.

“The front tire caught the canopy of the car seat, causing it to fall backward which led to the infant suffering critical injuries,” the authorities explained in a press release. 

The mom said she thought she was able to place her toddler in her car seat “a safe distance away” before the accident. 

The infant got rushed to the local hospital for treatment but passed away even after “life-saving measures” were performed on her. 

“Despite their (medical personnel) heroic efforts, the child was pronounced deceased at the Verde Valley Medical Center,” police said.

NBC News said that whether the woman will be charged for what happened remains unclear. 

The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
