iACADEMY: Where Filipino heritage meets future technology

In a rapidly changing global landscape where technology evolves at breakneck speed, one educational institution is proving that embracing the future does not mean losing sight of cultural identity.

For iACADEMY, the answer lies not in choosing between history and innovation, but in boldly fusing them together. As a premier institution in the Philippines, iACADEMY has emerged as a progressive leader in merging traditional Filipino culture with modern technology.

By equipping students with mastery over software development, information and communications technology, and digital design, the school teaches young minds how to utilize technology to preserve and elevate Philippine culture, while making it competitive in the global creative market.

"Technology should not erase identity. Instead, it should amplify it," said Raquel Perez Wong, iACADEMY president and COO. "Our goal is to develop graduates who are globally competitive while remaining deeply connected to their Filipino roots."

iACADEMY's philosophy isn't just an abstract vision; it's a lived reality consistently validated by real-world success.

In October 2025, iACADEMY students Laurence Obona and Joan Mesia earned 3rd Place at the DOST–Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI) Stitch-Off: Filipiniana-Coded Design Competition. Their innovative work merged digital technology with traditional Filipino cultural design, proving that our national attire can be reimagined through modern technical applications.

At the same time, iACADEMY students continue to demonstrate excellence in highly technical fields.

In April 2025, the school's Senior High School Software Development students dominated the prestigious Junior Hackfest held at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, taking home both the Overall Championship and the Best Presentation award. Competing against some of the country's brightest young programmers, the team showcased exceptional coding ability, innovation, and collaborative problem-solving.

"By integrating technology education with cultural awareness, we are able to equip students to become innovators capable of creating products, experiences, and solutions that are distinctly Filipino yet globally relevant," Wong noted.

“For us, technology is more than a tool; it's a bridge between heritage and innovation,” she added.

This approach is particularly significant for iACADEMY as the Philippines strengthens its position within the global digital and creative economy. Industries such as game development, digital media, software engineering, and user experience design increasingly require professionals who can blend technical expertise with storytelling, cultural insight, and creative thinking.

iACADEMY is proving that the future belongs not only to those who master technology, but also to those who understand the value of identity and heritage. In doing so, the institution is helping shape a new generation of Filipino professionals ready to compete on the world stage—not by imitating others, but by bringing the best of the Philippines into the future.
