Paying the travel tax can sometimes add stress to your pre-flight rush, especially if there's a line waiting at the counter, but Filipinos can now breathe easier as it is now possible to settle it through the eGovPH app.

In the Travel page, there is now a section dedicated to the Philippine Travel Tax Services, where you can pay your full travel tax.

Once you click it, you will be led to a page where you must fill out the necessary information to settle your payment.

There are several details that will be automatically filled in, such as your name, passport number, mobile number, email address, and the amount that you need to pay. It is P1,620 for Economic or Business Class and P2,700 for First Class.

You will then need to input your ticket or booking reference number, airline, destination, and departure date.

Once this is done, click "Save Passenger," and you will be brought to a page to finalize your details. Keep in mind that there is a processing fee of P50 for the transaction, and if you use any credit card or Grab Pay, there is another fee of about 1.4% of the total amount.

When you proceed, you will now have the option to choose your mode of payment, whether it's through your e-wallet, credit or debit cards, or bank transfer.

In the Philippines, travel tax is a fee imposed by the government on individuals leaving the country. This can be reduced for certain travelers, such as dependents of overseas Filipino workers.

Currently, 50% of the travel tax collections go to the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, 40% to the Commission on Higher Education, and 10% to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.

Some airlines already include the travel tax in the total ticket price when you book your flight online or through a travel agent. Aside from using the eGovPH app, you can also pay online before your flight via the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority website.

You can also settle it on the day of your flight at a TIEZA Travel Tax counter available at airports.
