UP announces guidelines on UPCAT applications for academic year 2024-2025
The University of the Philippines (UP) has announced the guidelines on the applications for the UP College Admission Test (UPCAT) for Academic Year (AY) 2024-2025.
The upcoming exam will be the university's first in-person UPCAT after its cancellation in 2021 and 2022 because of the pandemic. It will take place on June 3 and 4 of this year in more than 100 testing centers throughout the country.
Applications will be open to Grade 11 students graduating from senior high school at the end of AY 2023-2024. They may submit their forms anytime between March 8 to April 15.
The guidelines released by the university on Feb. 15 state that applications can only be submitted online through the UPCAT online portal.
On the website, exam takers would need to encode their grades for Grades 8 to 11.
"Though applicants may still be in Grade 11 when they apply, exam takers will encode their grades online only in September 2023 when Grade 11 grades are final and complete." the university noted.
Apart from registering through the portal, applicants are required to provide hard copies of their Form 137, which contains the student's official grades, "to be used for verification process of the Office of Admissions."
Prior to the resumption of UPCAT, UP admitted incoming college freshmen through its UPCA system which ranked applicants based on their final grades in Grades 8 to 11.
The university announced that is it bringing back its face-to-face entrance exams on September 22 based on the decision of UP's President's Advisory Council.
Successful UPCAT takers will be admitted in the first semester of AY 2024-2025.
