Nikki Gil's daughter diagnosed with Kawasaki disease
Nikki Gil revealed that her daughter was diagnosed with a rare condition called Kawasaki disease as she opened up that it was the "hardest thing" that she and her husband have gone through as parents.
In an Instagram post on Monday, April 14, the former VJ talked about the health condition of her child. "What a week," she began. "Maddie was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease—something we had never even heard of. And seeing our little girl in pain, hooked to IVs, enduring tests and meds, was the hardest thing we’ve ever gone through as parents."
"But even in the scariest moments, God showed up—in the peace He gave, the people He sent, and the healing He allowed. We give Him all the glory for carrying us through and for Maddie’s recovery," she continued.
Gil thanked those who sent Maddie and their family some love and support while she was in the hospital. Every message, prayer, meal, visit, and word of encouragement meant the world to us," she wrote, giving a special mention to her medical team.
"We’re finally home with our brave girl, and while recovery continues, our hearts are filled with gratitude. God is so, so, so good," she concluded.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Kawasaki disease is a condition that can "cause damage to the heart and blood vessels, mostly in children younger than 5 years old." The cause of it remains unknown.
Gil and her non-showbiz spouse BJ Albert welcomed Maddie in October 2021. They also share a son named Finn, who was born in November 2017—two years after they tied the knot.
