Last text messages revealed between d4vd and teenage girl before she was found dead in singer's car
The final text messages exchanged by d4vd and the teenage girl before her dead body was discovered in the Here with Me singer's car have been revealed.
PEOPLE reported that their last text conversation was detailed in court last July 27, which marked the fifth day of d4vd's (real name: David Anthony Burke) preliminary hearing in connection with the murder of the 14-year-old girl named Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
Corey Farrell, a robbery-homicide detective at the Los Angeles Police Department, said that the two fought over his friendship with another woman.
“And u rlly saying youd [sic] end ur friendship just to be friends w her over me is disturbing and disgusting to me on a deeper level david,” Celeste told d4vd in an April 22, 2025 text. To which, he said, “what did i say id [sic] end my friendship with you for her.”
Celeste then replied, “i will end ur career and ur life.”
The teenager gave d4vd "1 more chance" to tell her the truth in a text message to him the following day, warning him that she would “leak all of the s--t” if he continued seeing the woman.
As seen in their exchange, d4vd booked an Uber ride for Celeste to his home in West Hollywood past 8 p.m. on April 23, 2025. They continued messaging each other about the ride's progress, to which she replied with an "okkk."
By 10:01 p.m., Celeste told him she had arrived. D4vd texted, "got you" and told her "gate open door unlocked" 10 minutes later.
Per prosecutors, the teenager died between 10:10 p.m. and 10:31 p.m. that day.
Text records showed that d4vd kept asking Celeste where she was 20 minutes later. At 11:37 p.m., he texted "bro," followed by "ur scaring me" and "where are you please."
Previous text exchanges between the two also revealed that they had a sexual relationship and even talked about pregnancy and abortion, Plan B, the emergency contraceptive pill, and breaking up.
According to the PEOPLE report, prosecutors said the two started talking on Aug. 8, 2022 when Celeste was only 11 and d4vd was 16. Their sexual relationship started in November 2023—Celeste was 13 then, while d4vd was 18.
Celeste's dismembered body was discovered in d4vd's Tesla in a Hollywood impound lot in September 2025.
According to d4vd's lawyer Blair Berk, there was "no evidence" showing that his client had a "deliberate intention to kill."
Prosecutor Beth Silverman, however, pointed out that "there's nothing in this case that sounds like an accident."
On July 27, Judge Charlaine Olmedo ruled there was enough incriminating evidence for d4vd to stand trial after the preliminary hearing.
He's facing one count each of murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains—all of which he has repeatedly denied. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment or death penalty.
