Repertory Philippines announces musical featuring songs by Jose Mari Chan

This is not a drill: Christmas is truly waving in our hearts!

The Filipino theater company, Repertory Philippines, set the stage for an exciting Ber-months with the announcement of a musical featuring the beloved Christmas icon Jose Mari Chan.

In an Instagram post, the theater company humorously posted a meme-worthy photo of Jose Mari Chan to announce its upcoming musical titled, Going Home To Christmas: A Jose Mari Chan Musical.

"You know the man.⁠ You've heard the songs," the caption read."This Christmas season, watch us bring his songs to life on the theater stage."

The show will be held on Friday, November 29, at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium of the RCBC Plaza in Makati.

Further details such as the ticket selling period and prices have yet to be announced.

In a report by ABS-CBN News in December 2023, playwright Luna Griño-Inocian told the media outlet that the "musical has four distinct stories about father and son, husband and wife, boyfriend and girlfriend."

"Difficult family drama, romance here and there. Things that happened in Christmas all set in an airport because everyone is going home to Christmas," she said.

"We all have our individual choices, but since it's a Christmas musical, we all know what songs hold that together, and it's not 'Christmas In Our Hearts,'" Inocian added.

In the Philippines, the arrival of September 1 signals the start of the Christmas season.
