Nick Carter countersues women for alleging him of sexual assault

Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter filed back a lawsuit against two women who accused him of allegedly raping them.

In his countersuit, the singer is attempting to clear up his name over the rape allegation of former teen pop singer Melissa Schumann in 2017 and sexual battery by Shannon Ruth in December.

According to the lawsuit, Nick is claiming $2.35 million in damages which is the same amount of money he lost following Ruth’s initial lawsuit on Dec. 9.

“Protecting one’s reputation and name by calling a liar a liar is not victim blaming or bullying. It is simply telling the truth,” the countersuit reads.

In the case of Melissa, the accuser claimed that the incident happened 15 years ago when Nick was 22 years old and she was 18 despite announcing she has forgiven the singer.

“These opportunists set out to thrust themselves into the spotlight and destroy innocent lives," the suit reads, labeling the women as "opportunists" and abusers of the #MeToo movement campaign.

The counterclaim denied Melissa's testimony on her blog that she was invited over to the superstar's house and was forced to perform oral sex.

Meanwhile, Ruth announced in a press conference that the crime allegedly happened when she was offered an alcoholic drink inside the singer's bus after the boyband's 2001 show in Tacoma, Washington.

Nick's party believed that Melissa, now 38, and his father Jerome Schuman used the "vulnerable" autistic Shannon to "make false allegations" and launch a five-year conspiracy to "defame and vilify" him, per PEOPLE

They also claimed that the recent case took advantage of his late brother Aaron Carter's passing in November.

In response to his file back, Shannon's defender Mark Boskovich questioned the singer’s credibility over a long history of abusing females and proclaimed to let the judge "weigh the evidence and decide."

Nick is the vocal member of the superband Backstreet Boys. Married to  Lauren Kitt with three kids, he is known for his solo albums, Now or Never, I'm Taking Off, and All American.

The Backstreet Boys, meanwhile, is set to visit Manila this Febraury 20 for their DNA World Tour 2023.
