Miss Universe unveils this year's selection rounds leading to coronation
The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) has unveiled the flow of its upcoming pageant in El Salvador.
For the first time in decades, MUO released the pageant's flow in a social media post on Wednesday, Nov. 15. The organization has released the 72nd Miss Universe Competition selection rounds in response to the public's inquiries.
"You asked, we answered," MUO began its post. "The official 72nd MISS UNIVERSE Competition selection rounds are here! Who are your choices for the top 3?"
According to the post, the candidates will be narrowed down to 20 before showcasing their curves and confidence in the pageant's swimsuit competition.
Next will be the Top 10 announcement which will be followed by the contestants' display of grace and elegance in the evening gown competition.
After which, the remaining 10 candidates will be narrowed down to half in the Top 5 announcement and will be tasked to prove that they are equipped with not just beauty, but also brains, in the interview segment.
Leading to the most-awaited moment of the night is the announcement of the Top 3. They will then have to answer a question from the judges, including Fil-Am physician Connie Mariano, which will help determine who among them is deserving to participate in the pageant's crowning moment.
This year's program flow follows the same format Miss Universe has been putting into practice in the past years.
Like the past competitions, the candidates will be reduced to the Top 16, followed by the swimsuit and evening gown segments.
Among them, the Top 5 queens will be chosen, who will then be narrowed down to just three before ultimately announcing the winner.
The 72nd Miss Universe coronation night will take place in El Salvador on Nov. 19 (PHT).
Philippine bet Michelle Marquez Dee is among over 80 candidates vying for the Miss Universe title from the reigning queen, Fil-Am model and fashion designer R'Bonney Gabriel.
