Sara Duterte responds to Liza Marcos who said she 'crossed the line'

Vice President Sara Duterte clapped back at First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos's hatred towards her, saying that the latter's sentiments are unrelated to her duties as a public servant.

"Mga kababayan, bilang tao, karapatan ni Unang Ginang Liza Marcos na makaramdam ng sama ng loob at galit. Subalit ang kanyang personal na damdamin ay walang kinalaman sa aking mandato bilang isang opisyal ng pamahalaan," she said in a statement posted in her official Facebook page.

For Duterte, a private discussion with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. regarding the matter will help them move forward with the issue and focus more on the important ones.

"Upang makausad tayo, iiwan na natin sa isang pribadong pag-uusap sa pagitan lamang namin ni Pangulong “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang mga susunod na hakbang."

"Dapat ay nakatutok tayo sa pagtugon sa mga suliraning hinaharap ng ating bansa," she continued while enumerating various social issues such as inflation, lack of water and energy supply, criminal rate, terrorism, insurgency, among others.

This public statement came after the first lady expressed her disapproval of the vice president and defended her husband against criticism during an appearance on journalist Anthony Taberna's vlog, which aired early Friday, April 19. It marked the first time that she publicly spoke about issues involving Marcos and Duterte since they made the headlines in January amid a supposed rift between their families.

In the said interview, Araneta-Marcos thinks Duterte had "crossed the line," especially when she saw Duterte allegedly laugh at her father's "Si Bongbong, bangag 'yan" remark during a protest in Davao against charter change in January.

"For me, nasaktan ako because my husband will do everything to protect you," she said, noting that the Marcoses and Dutertes joined forces under the UniTeam banner during the 2022 polls. "You ran together, 'di ba? Sama-sama tayong babangon muli.”

“Pupunta ka sa rally, tatawagin ‘yung presidente mong ‘bangag’… tama ba ‘yan?” she added. “Even Leni [Robredo] never did that.”

Liza said she was "always kind" to Duterte, especially since she's her husband's running mate. But with what Duterte did, Liza admitted to ignoring the vice president whenever they're in the same event ever since.

"Mali' yan, e. You crossed the line. I'm many things but I am not a hypocrite," she said.
