Singaporean transgender beauty queen Qatrisha Zairyah, who won first runner-up in the Miss International Queen 2023, is now one of the official candidates for Miss Universe Singapore 2024.

On Instagram, the local pageant organizer held a press conference, revealing the Top 15 finalists of the pageant, including Qatrisha.

"That's a wrap on the Miss Universe Singapore 2024 Press Conference! A huge thank you to all the media friends, partners, and everyone who joined us today to witness the grand reveal of our Top 15 finalists," the caption read.

This means that if Qatrisha wins the pageant, she will be the first transgender woman from Asia to compete in the Miss Universe pageant, which will take place on November 16 at Arena CDMX in Mexico.

The coronation night for the Miss Universe Singapore 2024 has yet to be announced.

Other transgender women who were able to represent their respective countries in the Miss Universe were Spain's Angela Poncein in 2019 and Portugal's Marina Machete and Rikkie Kollé of the Netherlands in 2023.

Qatrisha was crowned the first runner-up in the Miss International Queen 2023 pageant contest, which was held in June in Pattaya, Thailand. At the time, Solange Dekker from the Netherlands was crowned the winner.

In addition, Qatrisha, who is also a fashion advisor, was hailed as third runner-up in two other pageants for transgender women in 2022—Miss Trans Star International in Barcelona and Miss Equality World in Bali.
