Malacañang declares June 17 as regular holiday in observance of Eid'l Adha
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has declared Monday, June 17 as a regular holiday in observance of Eid'l Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice.
Proclamation No. 579, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, was released by Malacañang on June 5 and signed on June 4. It states that Eid'l Adha is "one of the two greatest feasts of Islam."

This announcement was made in accordance with Republic Act No. 9849 which declares the tenth day of Zhul Hijja, the twelfth month of the Islamic Calendar, as a national holiday in the country.
The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos also recommended June 17 as the day for the observance.
Eid'l Adha is one of the two most important Islamic feasts, with the other being Eid'l Fitr or the Feast of Ramadan.
This month, Wednesday, June 12 is also a regular holiday marking Independence Day.
