Parts of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) will be closed on the first week of March for the construction of the Northern Access Link Expressway (NALEX).

“To give way to the (San Miguel Corporation)’s Northern Access Link Expressway project near Balintawak Toll Plaza, a 450-meter lane closure on both northbound and southbound directions will be implemented,” NLEX Corporation said in a Facebook post on Feb. 29.

Here are the scheduled closures:

Feb. 29, 10 p.m., to March 1, 4 a.m.

  • Northbound and southbound, Lane 1 (leftmost)

March 1, 10 p.m., to March 2, 4 a.m.; March 2, 10 p.m., to March 3, 4 a.m.; March 7, 10 p.m. to March 8, 4 a.m.

  • Northbound, Lane 1 (leftmost)

March 3, 10 p.m., to March 4, 4 a.m.; March 4, 10 p.m., to March 5, 4 a.m.; March 5, 10 p.m., to March 6, 4 a.m.; March 6, 10 p.m., to March 7, 4 a.m.

  • Northbound, Lane 1 (leftmost) and Lane 2 (middle) and Southbound, Lane 1 (leftmost)

NALEX, according to the Toll Regulatory Board website, consists of two phases. The first phase is a “proposed 136.4-kilometer expressway that is envisioned to provide connectivity between the Metro/Mega Manila, the New Manila International Airport, and Central Luzon as an extension and/or linkage of the Metro Manila Skyway-Stage 3 at Balintawak.”

The second phase, meanwhile, is a demand-driven expansion from Masantol, Pampanga to Tarlac City.
