Japanese musician Sayuri passes away at 28
Japanese singer-songwriter Sayuri, known for working on the theme songs for My Hero Academia and Erased, passed away at the age of 28 on Sept. 20.
Her husband, musician Amaarashi, announced her passing on X. He said that she has been fighting a chronic illness that was disclosed on July 25.
"We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the kindness shown to Sayuri during her lifetime, and together with everyone, we would like to pray for her soul to rest in peace," he wrote.
Her funeral was held privately with relatives, close associates, and other loved ones.
“We kindly ask the members of the media to respect the family’s deep grief and to refrain from contacting them or seeking interviews with related individuals,” Amaarashi added.
In a follow-up tweet, he expressed that despite the challenges of battling a chronic illness, she remained passionate about music until the end.
"I was so happy to be your husband, even though you proposed to me out of nowhere, and then one year later I became the chief mourner.
“Only Sayuri and I can walk in this kind of life. Thank you for choosing and believing in me. I will always be on your side. I love you,” he concluded in the post.
Some of Sayuri’s works include the ending songs for My Hero Academia Season 4 titled About a Voyage, and for Erased titled It Is Like A Small Light, among others.
