Kick your school spirit in high gear: UAAP to hold Cheerdance Competition on May 22

After a two-year hiatus, the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) is again holding the much-anticipated cheerdance competition on May 22 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

The eight UAAP schools will battle it out to nab the coveted title from defending champion National University Pep Squad.

Ateneo's Blue Babble Battalion will perform first, followed by NU Pep Squad. The University of the Philippines Pep Squad will go third while last season's runner-up Far Eastern University Cheering Squad will go fourth. This will be followed by Adamson University Pep, De La Salle Animo Squad, and the University of the East Pep Squad. Last to perform is the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe.

Where's the drumline?

Unlike cheerdance competitions of past, drums aren't allowed in the MoA Arena this year. This has caused the drummers from all UAAP schools to petition for their participation in the Sunday event.

"We humbly ask that the UAAP consider this request and allow us to bring our drums and to be part of the prestigious CDC," their statement read.

"Drums bring life and excitement to the crowd and encourage every UAAP fan to cheer proudly for their school. This CDC will not only bring the UAAP schools together but also rekindle the lost memories that could have been made during the two-year absence of the CDC."

Tickets for the event will be available via SM Ticket outlets and online via smtickets.com starting May 20, 10 AM. Students can also get tickets from their respective universities.
