TRENDING: Pinoys react to hotsilog being on TasteAtlas’ list of ‘worst dishes in the world’ for February
Hotsilog landed on a renowned travel guide’s list of “worst dishes in the world” for February, and Filipinos are not having it.
This Pinoy breakfast that combines hotdogs, fried rice, and fried egg ranked at number 36 in TasteAtlas’ newly released list. This crowd-favorite dish is usually enjoyed in the morning, with banana ketchup or atsara on the side.
Filipinos took to social media to express their disagreement with the list, with many noting how simple yet delicious it actually is.
“Sarap kaya ng hotsilog. Ewan ko sa inyo,” an Internet user said.
“Nananahimik yung hotsilog. Bakit niyo inaano?” another one joked.
“Never magiging worst dish ang hotsilog, Taste Atlas!” someone tweeted.
A social media user also said: “Hotsilog? The disrespect.”
There are some who speculated that the ones who took part in the TasteAtlas survey might have been given either expired or low-quality hotsilog meals.
“May mga mura kasing hotdog para mura rin ang benta ng hotsilog,” someone pointed out in a tweet.
“Depende sa brand ng hotdog yung sarap ng hotsilog,” a Twitter user said.
“Baka panis yung pinakain sa nagsurvey kaya worst food,” another one added.
A few netizens, however, seemed totally fine with the trending list as they shared the same sentiments with the ones who participated in the survey.
"Gets ko yung hotsilog," someone said.
"Hotsilog is so basic, it's understandable," another one tweeted.
Aside from hotsilog, kinalas—a famous noodle soup in Naga City that’s usually enjoyed with boiled egg—also made it to the list at number 17.
TasteAtlas has put the spotlight on the Philippine cuisine multiple times. The Philippines ranked 19th in its list of Top 50 Best Cuisines for June 2022. The travel guide also named chicken inasal and sisig among the Best Dishes in the World last year.
