Wilcon Depot: Roxas City’s newest pride and joy

Published Aug 11, 2024 10:00 am

People build structures for their business ventures in a chosen location. But on the other side of the spectrum, some areas long for businesses whose mere presence bring a sense of pride and joy to the environment and their citizenry.

That is exactly how the people of Roxas City regard the coming of Wilcon Depot in their area. More than a mere edifice of stone and mortar, the opening of the Wilcon store within striking distance from their homes and workplaces augurs many benefits and triggers a sense of prestige among the residents. Wilcon Depot, the leading home improvement facility of the country recently opened its 96th store and is well on track to launch its 100th store.

Wilcon Depot is getting closer to achieving its #FlyingHighTo100 milestone with the grand opening of its 96th branch in Roxas City, Capiz on June 19. In keeping with its mission to deliver excellence, advance sustainability, uphold innovation, and improve the customer experience, the grand opening was a great success, expanding the company's reach throughout the country. Executives from Wilcon Depot and Capiz local government representatives were present to commemorate this milestone.

A sense of pride

Roxas City Mayor Atty. Ronnie Dadivas is especially thrilled that Wilcon has finally opened its doors to their residents. Beyond the ‘bragging rights’ of having a Wilcon store in their area, Mayor Dadivas cites many other good things they can expect with the local launch of the country’s premiere home essentials and improvement store. “Yung entry ng Wilcon dito sa Roxas, City malaking contribution sa economic development namin lalong lalo na sa job generation, yung ika nga employment opportunities, yung healthy competition among similar stores, being about vibrant economy at saka masasabi ko ring sense of pride kumbaga sabihin ko bragging rights tayo na sasabihin na may Wilcon na kami dito sa Roxas City and that's a sense of pride”, he enthuses. It makes our economy more vibrant and it gives us a sense of pride to say that we have Wilcon here in Roxas City.]

Wilcon is on a roll with the grand opening of its 96th store in Roxas City, Capiz. The newest addition to the growing network of the company mirrors their commitment to providing high-quality home improvements and construction supplies to more Filipinos. The esteemed Roxas City Mayor Hon. Ronnie T. Dadivas visited the store a day before the grand opening to show his support and enthusiasm for this new venture. Wilcon is now ready to serve in Roxas City, Capiz from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM and continue its mission to build big ideas.

The same sentiment is echoed by Capiz Provincial Vice Governor Fredenil Castro. He sees exciting things happening in the province and a more robust investment environment with the advent of Wilcon in the area. “The opening of the Wilcon branch in the province of Capiz marks a significant development in the province's economic landscape as a leading home improvement and construction supply company. Wilcon’s presence proves a healthy private-public collaboration that could attract new forms of capital, connect business communities, and address a centrality mindset, he adds.

Go-to place for essentials

Aside from job generation and economic vibrancy, Dadivas and Castro are looking forward to potential LGU collaborations with the company especially in its push towards sustainability. Wilcon Depot has been riding high on the sustainability wagon and this cascades from top management to business processes up to the culture among its employees. In this area, Dadivas sees possible linkages. Dadivas adds that since Wilcon is a familiar brand, it is only logical that engineers, architects and other people involved in construction will patronize the store because of its premiere home essential products that are of high quality and sustainable.

Architect Ferdinand Fuentes Delay says he puts premium quality above anything else, “Yung sa ibang hardware mura nga..pero hindi yun tatagal ng 2-3 years. Pero yun product ng Wilcon is maganda ang quality for example sa tiles. Kaya sobrang mare-recommend mo sa client.” [Other hardware stores may have lower-priced items but these won’t last even 2-3 years. Wilcon’s products are of prime quality so you can really recommend these to our clients.]

He also marvels at the expansive product line of Wilcon expressing surprise that he even found “artificial grass” among its shelves. Aside from the many choices of tiles, he adds that his other favorite area is the “kitchen accessories” section. “Nalibot ko na lahat ng mga hardware dito, dito ko lang nakita yun parang pull-out na lagayan ng plato, mga glassware na magaganda, he affirms. [I’ve been to other hardware stores here, this is the only place where I found pull-out plate racks, beautiful glassware and other awesome products for the kitchen.]

Architect Cathlen Bariatos Artuz on the other hand appreciates the wide range of choices that Wilcon offers. She shares, “May mga new tiles na mga possible na pwedeng gamitin for like CR, bathrooms sa lahat kasi kung usually kasi parang same same lang yun sa iba. Dito sa Wilcon super new niya talaga sa mata. May mga project kami before na need pa namin pumunta ng Iloilo just to find the accessories. Hassle for us to travel 2-3 hours, ngayon mas convenient and mas malapit and mas easy access na.” [There are new choices of tiles for the CR, bathrooms because the other places offer the same old stuff. Here at Wilcon, the choices are super new. We had projects before that we needed to go to Iloilo just to find the accessories. It was a hassle to travel for 2-3 hours, but now with Wilcon here everything is more convenient and accessible.]

Tatak 'Alagang Wilcon'

Yet, even a wide product line, accessibility and premiere quality will be for naught without impeccable and informed customer service. Wilcon’s staff are known for going the ‘extra mile’ for every customer that passes through its doors.

Wilcon’s Operations Manager Jay Abanes guarantees attentive customer service at all times. And that is largely because the staff find joy in their work and in dealing with the store’s clients. That kind of internal joy radiates in the way they respond to customer’s needs and queries, “Dito kasi sa Wilcon pinapahalagahan talaga yung hard work mo. Enjoy magtrabaho sa Wilcon. Kaya since inaalagaan kami, nagbibigay din kami ng ‘alagang Wilcon’ sa bawat customer.” [Wilcon values our hard work and we enjoy working here. And since we are taken care of, we cascade this kind of care to our customers.]

Abanes said that it took a lot of work and long hours preparing for the launch, but everything was well worth it. “Nakita naman na magandang resulta ng tindahan so landmark talaga siya dito pagdating sa Roxas pag sinabi mong Wilcon talagang makikita nila yung napakaganda ng building, napakagandang loob ng store at the same time yung products na rin at talaga yung service natin”, he adds. [The hard work and preparation paid off because it is clear that the building is beautiful inside and out. That plus the products and customer service is what Wilcon offers.]

With Wilcon Depot opening in Roxas City and bringing pride and joy with its presence and high-quality products, it is no wonder that residents, customers, and building professionals can only gratefully exclaim—Madamo gid na salamat!
