ICYMI: Intramuros reopens 8 chapels and tourist sites for your cultural Visita Iglesia
In need of last-minute Holy Week plans? Intramuros is reopening eight churches to stage several activities across The Walled City.
The eight churches in particular are Manila Cathedral, San Agustin Church, Guadalupe Shrine in Fort Santiago, Shrine of Jesus, Divine Teacher, Santa Rita Chapel, Letran Chapel, and St. Matthew's Chapel. They will only be open during Maundy Thursday (April 14) and Good Friday (April 15).
During regular non-holiday days, only the Manila Cathedral and the San Agustin Church are open.
The last time that the destination had that many churches open was back in 2019, wherein visitor counts reached over 1 million people.
Meanwhile, a few tourist spots will also be open for visitors during the religious holidays. Fort Santiago and Balauerta de San Diego will be open from Maundy Thursday until Easter Sunday. Meanwhile, the NCCA Gallery will be open on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.
The regular entrance fee of P75 will be followed, along with a P50 discounted rate for senior citizens, students, children, and persons with disabilities.
Visitors are reminded to observe COVID-19 health protocols such as physical distancing, the mandatory wearing of face masks, and queueing up properly in crowded places.
