You must be thinking, “Is it just me or is everyone in Hong Kong?” Now that the boarders are open, travelers have returned to Hong Kong Disneyland and are now enjoying street foods in Tsim Sha Tsui.

To date, travelers can visit Hong Kong with no quarantine, no isolation, and no vaccination requirements. So if you’re planning to visit, you might want to try your luck as Cathay Pacific is giving away free plane tickets to the country.

As part of the region's efforts to boost the tourism industry, Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) launched “World of Winners” campaign, which will give away 500,000 free tickets to global visitors.

In a statement, Hong Kong Tourism Board Regional Director in Southeast Asia Raymond Chan said that the Hong Kong Tourism Board is ready to welcome visitors from the Southeast Asia “with great pleasure.”

“Hong Kong is extending its warmest welcome along with a variety of attractive offers through the launch of a global integrated campaign ‘Hello Hong Kong.’ I am confident that visitors will enjoy a unique and unforgettable travel experience when they return to this vibrant city with Hong Kong’s diverse culture and immersive tourism offerings,” he said.

Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific will be offering residents across Southeast Asia 80,000 round-trip air tickets to Hong Kong, with 20,400 tickets of this will be for residents of the Philippines.

How to join

Starting March 3, Cathay Pacific members who are residents of the Philippines and are aged 18 years old and above may sign up using their Cathay membership details. (If you’re not yet a member, you may still sign up on their website.)

They will be asked three questions and they must all be answered correctly. The first 20,400 entrants with correct answers win and only one entry is allowed for each member.

The contest will run from March 3 (12:00 local time) to March 9, 2023 (23:59 local time).

The winners will be announced on the campaign website on March 21, and will be notified via email on how to redeem their prize.

In the website, Cathay Pacific says that winners will be liable for any taxes and surcharges applicable to the ticket. Travel blackout period also applies.

For more than two years, Hong Kong had strict protocols surrounding COVID-19, following China's policies.

It reopened in May 2022 but with strict restrictions, requiring tourists to present negative PCR tests, go on hotel quarantine, and conduct self-arranged rapid antigen tests (RAT).

It was only in February 6, 2023 when Hong Kong eased the requirements, simplifying the arrival process for visitors and returning residents.
